More korkers

I made these clips to go with a dress that Mimi sent.  A birthday present for our two year old.  I love the colors!  I think I may need to add some embellishments to the center of the clips but nothing has called to me yet.  I have been in a bit of a creative rut lately. :/

Hair ribbons

I have to say that I have not really enjoyed making hair clips in the past.  My bows leave much to be desired.  My daughters birthday is on the forth of July and I just had an idea about some clips to make to match her birthday dress.  I actually love the way they turned out.  Then again, it is the bow making that I have not enjoyed and these are not bows. lol!  I stitched and beaded felt stars and then made the korkers for the "shooting stars."

Quick and Classy w/ MME @ CKC Houston

This was an awesome class taught by Sophia Trujillo, http://strictlyscrapbooking.vpweb.com/  She is a great instructor and I had a great time making several layouts with her.  The title of my page was actually scraplifted from Audrey Yeager, who I believe scraplifted the idea herself.  I just loved the idea and had to do it myself.  Audrey is a very talented lady and does gorgeous work!  Check out her blog: http://audreysreflection.blogspot.com/

My husband wrote half the list.  This is the first time that he has actually helped with a layout.  Guess what?  It happens to be his all time favorite page!  lol!!

Sketchy Thursdays 4.21

This is a first!  This is the first time I have ever submitted on a Thur.  Usually I run right down to the wire, even when I have a layout complete it takes me a while to get it photographed and published.  So excited to be able to get it done today.

sketchy Thursdays 4.14

I thought this was the perfect sketch for the Christmas photos that have been just waiting to be scrapped. I have had a lot going on the last few weeks with no time for scrapping. :(  I made time today and finished this in under an hour.  I am quite happy with it considering the circumstances and it turned out much better than I anticipated.  The photo does not do it justice.  You can not see it but the title work has a different design on each letter.

Sketchy Thursdays 3.17

Here is my LO for this week.  My daughter and husband playing together.  Her water table is absolutely her favorite thing to play with.  I think I have hundreds of pictures of her around it and she just got it Christmas!

CCG Challenge #184

January Layout

New year and lots of new things for my baby girl.  She started so many new things that I needed to do a lot of journaling.  I got my idea for this layout from Kinsey Wilson.  She does a lot of stitching and work with geometric shapes.  I just love her work!  I do not know how she finds enough time to do all the stitching.  It took a long time!  I was so tired that in the end I decided to do faux stitching around the edges.

The Color Room Palette #50

There are some things that just have to be done no matter how difficult they may be.  This layout was one of them.  These photos were taken after my Uncles funeral back in August.  This was one the saddest events in my life and these photos have been staring at me for months waiting to find their place on a page.  Until this week I have not had a single idea on what I thought was the proper way to document them. When I saw the colors and layout this week, I thought they would be perfect for this.

This is my first layout for the color room.  I enjoyed the process, it was very therapeutic.  I look forward to participating in the future.  The pullout tag lists all the people in the photos.  I made most of the colored strips using many different techniques: stamping, heat embossing, watercolors, oil pastels, and markers.  I hope you enjoy.

CCG Challenge #183

I am expanding my crafting mediums.  This week I bought watercolors and could not wait to use them!  The color turned out so beautiful!  It actually has much more green than turned out in my photo.  The butterfly stamps are Amy Butler for K & Company.  I colored them with oil pastels and layered them with newspaper.  The butterfly trails are hand stitched.

Sketchy Thursdays 3.03

I thought this would be a fun layout for my daughter to see how much technology changes between now and when I give her the scrapbooks.

Here is my take on the sketch.  As always, I had so much fun with this.  I hope you enjoy it!

Sketchy Thursdays 2.10

My in-laws are cattle ranchers in west Texas.  My daughter loves spending time there.  So many open spaces to explore and new animals to see and watch.  I just love my "barbed wire fence."  This was my first time working with wire.  It was a little tricky but sooo worth the effort I think.  I hope you enjoy!

Sketchy Thursdays 2.03 LO #2

Here is another sketch I did this week using the Sketchy Thursday LO.  I really loved this LO and with a chance to get published, why not do two?  This one is pretty simple but dressed up with some fussy cutting, bling, and glossy accents.

Color Combo Challenge

Here is my LO for the Color Combo Challenge #178.

The first thing I thought of when I read the inspiration challenge was the birth of my daughter.  There is nothing sweeter than a baby and no greater love than that for your own children.

Sketchy Thursdays 2.03

Here is my LO for this week.  I do not use orange very much.  As I was looking through my paint stash, I came across it and decided I needed to find a way to incorporate it.  My sun is painted and the rays are stamped.  Then I machine stitched around the edge.  The middle star burst is hand stitches and the outer two are stamped and chalked.  The butterflies are stamped with The Stamps of Life butterfly set.

Sketchy Thursdays 1.27

Wow! I had so much fun with this one! I really stepped outside my box for this LO! I am fairly new to papercrafts and I use to think adding a piece of chipboard added dimension! Lol! So, I tried some new things. I have not misted before and I loved it! I also have never stamped on a scrapbook page. It kind of scared me but I really like the way it turned out!

STT Dec. Daily

This is one of my albums from Stash to Treasure.  I did not get the kit so I made this from my stash.  I am in the process of making the other album.  These are taking much longer than I anticipated but are so much fun.  Since I am making both albums, I decided to make one not related to Christmas.

star quilt

Well here it is...my first ever quilt that I completed all myself!  I usually send the tops out to be quilted.  I started with a small one since I have never quilted a top before and because I do not have a long arm machine.  This is called a Texas star.  I sewed the top by hand and then machine quilted it using in the ditch.  I loved the pattern so much that I made a larger quilt with the same pattern using Texas bluebonnets.  It is gorgeous but I have not got it quilted yet.

Christmas Ornament

This is a "memory" ornament that I made for my daughter this year.  She is 18 months old and so much fun!
The design is an original by me.  I can't even tell you how many hours I have trying to get it right!  I did several do-overs.  When I get an idea in my mind, I am usually determined to make it work if possible.
I put korkers on the bottom for "snow" and there are our favorite memories from the past year that are written on the tree.

Sketchy Thursdays Sketch 1.13

Wow!  I thought I had until midnight.  This is my first time participating and I completed this layout in less than an hour!  So proud of myself.  This is a new record for me.  I hope you enjoy!

New to this...

With my addiction to paper crafting, I decided to make a serious attempt at card making.  I found a couple of websites that are so helpful and fun.  So, here are a couple of my first tries.  I got the sketches from card patterns.blogspot and the flower in the second card is made from the butterfly's to build stamp set from the Stamps of Life.

Starting out

Hello there!  I am going to start out by saying that I started this blog for two main reasons.  One is so that I will have a way to share my artwork and two, I figure that if I write about my goals publically that I will be more productive with them.  We will see how that works out.  So I guess...first things first.  My new years goals:
1.  Lose the last of the baby weight.
2. Get organized,  the entire house.
3. Declutter.  Anything that is broken, stained, too little, too big, doesn't work or fit right, out it goes!
4. Finish all current projects before beginning new ones.  This one is tough.  I find inspiration all around me and some ideas just seem too good to wait on.

I am making very good progress already.  Starting off strong!  I finished my daughters memory christmas ornament.  Got all of our important papers all in one area and filed properly.  I started an inspiration journal for all my "next" projects.  Finished a quilt I pieced together 3 years ago!  Finished making my DIY scrapbook cover.   My new passion is making scrapbook covers.  So much fun and there are so many talented ladies out there with great ideas!  I will post some pics soon.

Here are the projects:
1. Quilt two tops I have had completed for about 3-4 years.
2. Piece together A third quilt I have had in the works for a long time.
3. Finish the remodel of our half bath.  New tile and countertop.  I just need to paint, buy some wall hangings and get some cute towels to match. Oh, and refinish the cabinets.  *sigh*
4. Complete Christmas journals that I am making.
5.  I have a special project for my husbands b-day which I need to do.
6.  Complete my "pay it forward" facebook challenge.  Almost finished with that. And...
7.  The neverending project of keeping my daughters scrapbook up to date.

That is pretty much all the big stuff.  Now I need to go tend to this list.  I hope to have everything finished by May.  **fingers crossed**
